The Shades were added to supplement the Streetlife Collection. They can be erected in both straight and curved formats, creating places to shelter, rest or relax. The Rough&Ready Shade system feature a galvanised steel frame with beams in the same dimensions as the Rough&Ready wood size. The walls can be left open or closed in various ways. The Rough&Ready Shade is executed in Accoya, a FSC-certified pine that is extremely durable thanks to being acetylated. Accoya is comparable to FSC hardwood in terms of its lifespan but has a low-density.
Beginning with the 2018-2019 Collection, the Shade's columns can also be ordered with a wooden finish. The double wooden columns still feature a galvanised steel core to provide stable support, but the wood finish gives the Shade an attractive and more uniform appearance.
The Open Pillars are eye-catching vertical lighting columns in Streetlife’s Collection. The triangular elements have a standard height of six metres, with a graphic Wild Pattern that makes an ideal trellis for climbing plants. Open Pillars are available in CorTen and coated finishes and can be used as free-standing elements in parks, as seen in Miami, or as markers. However they’re used, they are guaranteed eye-catchers.
Parklets make their debut as a new system in the 2018-2019 Collection. With big cities increasingly pushing back cars while giving more space to pedestrians, the Parklet is a solution that kills two birds with one stone. A city's liveability goes hand in hand with how accessible it is. Removing parking spaces means that there are fewer cars, while also creating places for people to rest and relax without encroaching on the existing space for pedestrians. In addition, Parklets flow smoothly on from the pavement.
Parklets have many applications. A Parklet with seating in front of a café invites people to take a seat, see and be seen. Parklets with bicycle parking encourage people to ride their bikes rather than take the car when heading for the city centre. An additional feature is the ability to add extra green planters to a Parklet, creating more greenery on the street.
