Design Engineer for the R&D team North America (full-time - Leiden, The Netherlands)

The company

Streetlife was founded 25 years ago and is based in Leiden. It designs and supplies contemporary and sustainable products for public spaces.
Streetlife operates as an international company in Europe and North America. The team consists of around 50 architects and designers, with headquarters in Leiden and studios in Philadelphia, Malmö and Sydney.

The position

Our customers in America are increasingly asking for our low eco impact products, a renewed 'American Dream'. Streetlife produces in the US for its US and Canadian customers, the R&D team in Leiden manages this. Frequent contact with and visits to manufacturing partners in the USA is therefore part of this job. The realization of our projects is very dynamic due to smooth lead times and direct communication.

To strengthen the R&D team, consisting of about 20 designers and project leaders, Streetlife is looking for a design engineer with good CAD skills. Versatility, multilingualism and conscientiousness are key concepts in this job. After internal training, over time you will become an independent team member and project leader, dealing with various product developments and production technical aspects of our Streetlife Collection, specifically for the US region.

Work

Further development and detailing of product lines and systems
Project management; you will be responsible for your own group of products
Collaboration with fellow designers on projects
Collaboration with manufacturing partners in the USA
Creating and optimizing (parametric) CAD models in Solidworks
Designing and developing (in team) new products for the Collection

Your profile

Education TU-IO or IPO
Good communication skills; Dutch and English and preferably from the USA
Efficient, meticulous and an eye for quality
Affinity with Design, Technology, Production and Logistics
At least 3 years of work experience, preferably in a production environment
In possession of a driving license
